Europe in 10 Days July 17, 2009

I am thinking about this a lot lately. How on earth can you see Europe in 10 days. I know those tours exist but I think you better take 10 years to see Europe.

Currently I’m touring trough The Netherlands with a Finnish girl a friend and an Itallian girl. They are staying for 10 days and we show them as much as possible but even in 10 days you can’t see everything in a tiny country like The Netherlands.

We went to Amsterdam (offcourse), The Hague, Scheveningen, Giethoorn, Almelo, Raalte and tomorrow we’re going mudwalking somewhere in Friesland.

It’s tiring, but it’s fun. Even for me, I think it’s good to explore the country before I leave for Asia (in a year!!).

Cycling in Amsterdam July 6, 2009

Is great fun!

Thursday I went to Amsterdam for a Joss Stone & Jason Mraz concert  but before that started we had some time left so we rented a bike!

I cycled over het Spui, trough the tourists taking pictures of de Dam. We cycled over  the rembrandt square. Since it was so hot we cylced to the museum square in front of the Rijksmuseum and we put our feet in the water for a nice refreshment.

It makes you see the city from another side, also it makes your feet less hurt then when you’re walking.  It made me realize that I would love to cycle in other big cities! It’s less scary then it looks like!

The Explanation June 28, 2009

Filed under: TIL, personal — theadventurouslifestyle @ 09:51

The explanation on the TIL post from yesterday

  • Chips (or crisps) with every lunch isn’t as great as it sounds

Seriously I don’t know what those English people are thinking, eating all those crisps (cheese flavour:() isn’t good for your skin -totall breakout right now – or vains at all.

The first lunch was great, I was like  ‘what would be in the package’? OMG, sandwiches, mini muffin, and crips?!?, nice! but after 2 days you’re already like “I want an apple”!

  • Don’t travel or share a bed with people you don’t like

I was in the back of the bus (we went with school so with 70 people). I sat next to friends so it was great. But in the back there also were the annoying ‘ I think I’m funny” guys. I’ve never been so irritated before!

With Every slightly pretty girl/women they say, ‘ omg I could totally have her that bitch’ !

With Every slightly coloured person they are like, ‘I feel that he is going to steal my wallet, I feel it!’

Also they don’t like my friend, she is slightly different then most of us. Unlike others (me) she does exactly what she wants. Well she wanted to Watch Death Note, a Japanese Movie. They boys knew she wanted to watch it and when it was on they were all like. “I hate Chinese people, I don’t understand people who watch it”.or “I prefer having sex with a black male over watching this” or the childish stuff like “they should open their eyes”.

Anyway now you are probably thinking I understand why you shoulnd’t share a bed with someone you don’t like but why did you share a bed with them if you don’t like them…

Well luckily I didn’t share a bed with them (I would never ever do that). I shared a double bed with a friend since there was a single bed and a double bed in the room and well we were with 3 people.

And now comes the point of liking people you share a bed with. If I didn’t like her (as a friend!) I could see a big fight going on about the sheet, the space, the clothes that were everywhere, the about the electric points. I don’t like losing friends, especially not over something as stupid as that, so I’m glad I like her and I’m glad we didn’t make a fight.

  • Never date a boy younger then you

See the point above the anoying “I’m think I’m funny”  boys were 16/17  I can’t understand why they are so super childish at that age.

  • One hour in a huge museum makes your feet hurt

We went to the British museum, for just one hour! Those teachers are crazy. Because the museum is huge I ran up and down the stairs from room to room. wowing at almost everything but I didn’t have the time to stop and stare at it since we had so little time.

  • bring enough money, you never know what you come across

I bought 2 pairs of shoes both for 10 pond each, I bought 2 dvds -I’m a cyborg but that’s okay – and – Mongul- and I bought skullcandy headphones, something I always wanted to have for forever but they only sell it online.

  • only bring souvenirs if they are nice and usefull

My room is full of silly crap from everywhere, the latest souvenir is something I got from my little sister, it’s a wooden Giraffe from Kenia. It’s nice but it’s catching dust right now. I didn’t buy anything souvenir like in London. I wanted to buy an I love london sweater but I didn’t because I we wanted to go to Abbey road before we went to the musical and we only had 45 minutes.

  • English food isn’t to bad

Exept for the Fish and Chips, chips were to big and soft, the Fish was to big and to hard. And the peas, I’ve never seen them so green and round before.

  • London Eye in the sun isn’t a good idea

It’s like a sauna. A really hot one

  • It doen’st always rain in England

Only the last day was rainy. But I didn’t mind we were about to leave anyway.

  • London is better than Dublin, Sorry

I don’t know why it is. But I just like London better.

I think most of you think that you can’t compare London to Dublin, it’s like comparing Rome to Paris I guess. Every city has their own charm but I know I wouldn’t go to Dublin again unless it’s to visit a friend. But I know even if I was alone I would go to London again. I like the how the city feels. Even in rain it will be pretty.

Okay I hope you understand the Things I’ve Learned from yesterday a little better now.

Now I’ve got to go I have a BBQ from work and I still need to shave my legs (sorry I know to much information).

I am sad June 20, 2009

My grandmother died last Sunday. She was 79 when she died of a sudden heart attack. She was old but life was to short for her, she wanted to do much more things.

It made me realize that I want and should live my life without regrets, if I want to do something I should do it as soon as possible. So I started to live without regrets today. I wrote a letter to my favourite band and posted it. I don’t know if I send it to the right address since I only could find Korean addresses (it’s a Korean band called Big Bang) but well at least I did it and if felt slightly strange but good.

From now on this blog won’t be called, the adventurous lifestyle of a normal teenager. It will be called, the adventurous lifestyle, life your life without regrets.

p.s. I’m not looking forward to London anymore, I am just sad and tired. Hopefully London can distract my thoughts and I hope I will enjoy it anyway.

I just saw a video of from the lonelyplanet channel at youtube about not carrying a laptop around but a smartphone, I think it’s a pretty good idea since:

  1. Not heavy at all
  2. Internet access so you’re able to write blogpost and emails
  3. skype so no high calling fees
  4. cheaper then a laptop

Here is the video

p.s. I’m going to London in 2 weeks with school! I’m finally getting out of the country!

Top Signs You are a Travel addict June 7, 2009

I found this list on a great website

I’ve to say that I can check quite a few of these.

You start all your stories with “When I was in…”

You only TIVO the travel channel.

You read guidebooks for fun.

You plan trips you will never take.

You always ask “where people are from?” even when you know.

You were flip flops in the shower.

You take toilet paper everywhere you go out of habit.

You have more than one currency in your wallet just in case.

You keep a packed suitcase handy.

Your Ipod only has songs related to traveling.

You run multiple travel websites.

You don’t have paintings on the wall, you have maps.

If you haven’t been anywhere in a few months, you get the shakes.

You spend two hours each day read travel blogs and travel websites.

When you thinking of prices, you value things in terms how many days in your next destination it costs. (That T.V. is 10 days in Paris! Let’s get this one- it’s only 5 days!”

You pretend you are a travel writer.

Some people voted for Barack Obama, you voted for Anthony Bourdain.

When people ask you about your hobbies, all your answers contain the word “travel.”

Some people cry when the leave home. You cry when you have to go back.

When people ask you your profession, you say vagabond.

You filled your first passport before the first year was over.

Boots N All is your homepage.

You plan trips for next decade.

You have Lonely Planet tattooed on your lower back.

When you write a travel addict post.

But there is more

Not only do you get lists that aren’t even as stupid as they seem to be, the website also has tips and advice and loads of travel stories and links to other blogs!

go check it out
